Energy: line crews, plants, rigs, wind and solar, matched on the work.

Line workers, wind and solar techs, plant and refinery operators, roustabouts and drillers, petroleum and electrical engineers, auditors and substation techs. Field and plant roles always meet in person, and your safety cards count from day one.

How it works in energy

Hitches and rotations, matched

7/7, 14/14 and 21/7 hitches, DuPont and continental rotations and 12-hour shifts are matched. Overtime and per diem count when pay is compared. Field and hitch roles can hire across a region, so San Angelo can match Midland and Beaumont can match Houston.

Safety culture both ways

SafeLand, H2S, GWO and OSHA cards can be listed with their numbers; employers ask for them as strong wishes, which count but never filter. A NERC certification for system operators, a TWIC where a port site needs one, and a CDL with its DOT medical card are the ones the law requires, so only those can be hard requirements. Check-ins and what you do when someone makes a mistake are matched with the supervisor you'd report to.

Field vs. plant

Pick field or on-site. Field work shows the drive to the office or yard; plant work shows the daily drive. Only you see either.

Oil and gas to renewables

Moving from the oilfield to wind, solar or the grid? Pick "Changing fields", name the work you're coming from, and you're matched on the new role. Mentoring with someone who made the same move is free.

Apprenticeships

Line, plant and tech apprenticeships fit entry-level listings with skills set to Can train. Mentoring pairs a journeyman lineworker with an apprentice.

Contract crews

Service companies and contract crews take project work as firms, matched on capacity, crew size, insurance and rates.

Project and contract work. Contract crews, turnaround and shutdown support, commissioning, PLC programming, inspection, audits and engineering studies run as project work, with crew size, insurance and rates matched first. How project work runs

Questions

Does any energy role need a license to join?

Not to join. Solar installers who do the electrical work need the state electrician license where the state requires one, and nuclear reactor operators need an NRC license. The rest on this page are certifications you can list.

What about the Railroad Commission or the PUC?

In Texas they mostly license and regulate companies, not the roles on this page, so there's no individual lookup with them here.

Can I keep working a hitch while I look?

Yes. Set "On hitch until" with the day your hitch ends. While you're out, no new matches start and cards you haven't answered wait until 2 business days after you're back. Meetup times are offered only on your days off hitch.

Which Texas energy metros?

Midland–Odessa and the Permian Basin, Corpus Christi, Beaumont–Port Arthur, Houston, Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, San Angelo and the rest of the Texas metros.
